Ark 2’s Release Pushed Back to 2028 for Enhanced Development and New Experiences

In December 2020, Studio Wildcard surprised viewers by announcing Ark 2 and featuring Vin Diesel as one of the game’s main characters. However, the game is still in development five years later. According to Studio Wildcard cofounder Jeremy Stieglitz, Ark 2 has benefited from both the team’s growing experience with the game engine and player feedback on existing Ark experiences. On November 20, 2025, Snail, Inc. announced that their investor day event would be held the following month at the NASDAQ MarketSite. During the event on December 16, 2025, Snail, Inc. plans to unveil its digital ecosystem plan, a new stablecoin called USDO, and the content roadmap for the Ark franchise. During production scheduling, the developers realized that Ark 2 is now planned for release in 2028. The team needed more time to learn new techniques to realize their vision. They will introduce other Ark experiences to test mechanics in preparation for the sequel. The Ark roadmap for 2026 includes the following new games: Survival of the Fittest (developed by Studio Sirens) Bob’s True Tales: Karl Urban voices the character Bob in ARK: Lost Colony.

New Experiences in Ark 2 with Bob’s Upcoming Content and Legacy of Santiago Expansion

Upcoming “Bob-centric” content featuring Urban’s likeness (specifics not yet detailed). The first in-game screenshot of Bob reveals a redesigned character model resembling Urban. New voiceover performances have been confirmed for Bob’s True Tales: Tides of Fortune and Bob’s True Tales: Galaxy Wars. ARK: Lost Colony is scheduled to launch on December 18. Studio Wildcard also announced that ARK: Survival Ascended has sold over four million units since its release. Other titles include Tides of Fortune, ARK: World Creator, and ARK: Dragontopia. The lineup for 2027 includes ARK: Atlantis, Bob’s True Tales: Galaxy Wars, and ARK: Legacy of Santiago Part 1. The Legacy of Santiago expansion for ARK: Survival Ascended will introduce mechanics to test for potential inclusion in Ark 2. Positive feedback will lead them to implement and improve these features in the sequel. Whether it’s working with Unreal Engine 5 or testing mechanics, Studio Wildcard needs at least three more years of development before releasing Ark 2 to players.
