Expanded Adventure Awaits in Hollow Knight: Silksong’s Sea of Sorrow DLC!

Fresh off its win for Best Action/Adventure Game at The Game Awards 2025, Hollow Knight: Silksong has even more in store for players. Team Cherry has announced Sea of Sorrow, a major free expansion slated for release in 2026. A forty-second teaser revealed the announcement, promising to expand the adventure with new areas, bosses, and equipment, all set within a distinctly nautical theme. Team Cherry has not disclosed specific details to maintain an element of surprise. Since its release on September 4th, Hollow Knight: Silksong has sold over seven million copies, in addition to the many players who have accessed it through Xbox Game Pass. This success has allowed the developers to further invest in the Sea of Sorrow DLC, fueled in part by the game’s active community. The developers are also planning a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of the original Hollow Knight, scheduled for 2026. Original Hollow Knight Switch owners will receive this enhanced version for free, which includes the technical optimizations introduced in Silksong, such as higher resolutions, improved frame rates, and enhanced graphics, all tailored to leverage the new Nintendo console.

Updating Hollow Knight Across All Versions with Fixes and New Features! (Steam Deck & Ultrawide Support Included)

Team Cherry also plans to update all current versions of the original game with fixes, technical improvements, and new features. PC players can already access full support for 16:10 and 21:9 formats, suitable for Steam Deck and ultrawide screens.
