New Sci-Fi Adventure Saros from Sony & Housemarque Revealed at The Game Awards 2025, Release Date Set for April 30, 2026

Following Geoff Keighley’s unveiling of a demonic statue two weeks before The Game Awards, many speculated it was a tease for Saros. However, the object was connected to Divinity instead. Saros, a new sci-fi adventure game from Sony and Housemarque, was unveiled at the awards show in 2025. The release date is now set for April 30, 2026, moved from the original March 20. Preorders are now open on the PlayStation Store. In Saros, players take on the role of Arjun Devraj, a Solitary Enforcer on the planet Carcosa who is tasked with tracking down a vanished off-world colony. Narrative Director Gregory Louden calls it Housemarque’s most ambitious story to date.

Saros: Carcosa’s Intense Combat and Engrossing Narrative Unveiled

The game features a persistent resource and progression system, which allows players to permanently upgrade their gear, even after death. One of the key items is the Soltari Shield, which blocks attacks and absorbs projectile energy, transforming Devraj’s right arm into a Carcosan Power Weapon. The gameplay retains Housemarque’s demanding and intense style, incorporating new mechanics from Returnal, such as a shield to absorb enemy fire and a parry mechanic activated by pressing R1 for perfectly timed projectile deflections. These actions allow players to stun or destroy enemies, adding strategic combat to the studio’s signature frenetic pace. The game’s trailer, which debuted at The Game Awards in 2025, highlighted the narrative and star-studded cast, which includes Rahul Kohli, Jane Perry, Jerome Jackson, Ben Prendergast, Sebastian Torres, Adriyan Raye, and Shunori Ramanthan. Players can encounter these characters in the Passage—the central hub where each run begins—or throughout the game world via Soltari Hologram logs and audio recordings that gradually reveal the mystery surrounding the lost colony and an enigmatic eclipse on Carcosa. Kohli also appeared on stage at The Game Awards to introduce Saros.

Saros: Early Access, Celebration Suits, and a Gaming Boost – Housemarque’s New Offerings Unveiled

The Digital Deluxe Edition of Saros grants players 48-hour early access to the game, beginning April 28, along with PlayStation Studios celebration suits for Arjun inspired by Returnal, God of War, and Ghost of Tsushima. Among other announcements at Sony’s State of Play, Larian Studios revealed their game Divinity, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 received an update with a new dungeon, boss battles, and Photo Mode. A macOS Tahoe 26.2 update is also available, offering improvements for video calls. IKEA has launched three new Qi2.0 wireless phone chargers, including one with a secret double function. An adult mode for ChatGPT is in development, and YouTube’s TV app is undergoing a major overhaul with five upgrades. Additionally, Topping has released a new desktop DAC at an affordable price point. With a blend of intense gameplay and a narrative focus, Saros promises to be a compelling addition to Housemarque’s catalog.
