Death Stranding 2 On PC Approaches – ESRB Hints Imminent Release

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is poised to launch on PC less than a year after its PlayStation 5 release. An ESRB rating for the PC version suggests that launch is imminent. This PC release follows the pattern of the original Death Stranding, which debuted on PC eight months after its PlayStation 4 launch. However, the ESRB classification points to a shorter window this time, with On The Beach potentially arriving on PC after just five months on Sony’s console. The ESRB lists Sony Interactive Entertainment as the PC publisher, replacing 505 Games, who handled the original game’s PC release. The first Death Stranding PC version gained a photo mode, ultrawide monitor support, and Half-Life crossover content. The photo mode and ultrawide support are expected to appear in Death Stranding 2: On The Beach. The removal of the ESRB listing from their website could indicate an upcoming announcement, marking one of the quickest transitions of a first-party PlayStation exclusive to PC. The listing mirrored the PS5 version, suggesting the PC release may not feature extra content like the original Director’s Cut.

In addition to the game, a new animated series, Death Stranding: Initial, is coming to Disney in 2027. EH production will lead the animation, using a traditional, hand-drawn 2D style with top Japanese animators. Polygon praised Death Stranding 2: On The Beach in their summer review, but no further PC launch details have surfaced beyond the ESRB rating. Kojima Productions is also developing Death Stranding: Mosquito (animated film), Death Stranding: Initial (Disney series), Death Stranding: Isolations, and a live-action film produced by A24. The ESRB rating indicates a PC release of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is coming soon.
