Unanticipated Collaboration in The Walking Dead’s Extended Universe

Since its debut in 2010, The Walking Dead television series has expanded far beyond Robert Kirkman’s original comic book series, spawning numerous merchandise lines, spin-offs, and video games of varying quality. Many will recall Lee and Clementine’s emotional story arc in the Telltale Games series. The franchise has produced some memorable collaborations, but its latest is particularly unusual.

While The Walking Dead’s previous collaboration with Dead by Daylight felt like a natural fit, its recently announced crossover takes an unexpected turn: World of Tanks is joining forces with the franchise, specifically referencing the show’s first season. As fans recall, the first season depicted Rick Grimes awakening in a zombie-ridden Atlanta in 2010. He commandeered an assault vehicle to escape, encountered an infected soldier, and was forced to shoot him, resulting in a loss of hearing. Now, that assault vehicle is coming to World of Tanks as the H3 tank, available through a special Battle Pass starting November 6, 2025. The World of Tanks announcement states that players can recruit iconic Walking Dead characters, such as Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, Michonne, Negan, and The Governor, through this Battle Pass. The H3 tank model will be the centerpiece, appearing in pristine condition while retaining its rugged aesthetic. This special H3 tank features an autoloading system that fires five shells in rapid succession, eliminating the need for manual reloading. Each shot delivers between 400 and 515 points of damage, with armor penetration ranging from 248 to 304 mm.

In addition to recruiting characters and acquiring the tank, players can customize their vehicles with Walking Dead-themed accessories, including the iconic “DON’T OPEN DEAD INSIDE” message, as well as other zombie-related decals.
