Cost of The Witcher Season Four Soars to $221 Million, Making it One of the Most Expensive Streaming Productions

Redanian Intelligence reports the estimated budget for The Witcher Season Four is around $221 million, translating to approximately $27 million per episode. This substantial investment brings Netflix’s total spending on the entire franchise—including all seasons, spinoffs, and related content from Geralt’s world—to over $700 million. This makes The Witcher one of the most expensive streaming productions, trailing only Stranger Things. Previous seasons and spinoffs have also incurred significant costs: Season One: $92.1 million (about $11.5 million per episode) Season Two: $176.3 million (approximately $22 million per episode) Season Three: $175 million (approximately $21.8 million per episode) The Witcher: Blood Origin: $51.5 million (approximately $12.8 million per episode) The Witcher: Rats (currently in production): $21 million and counting The Witcher Season Four is set to premiere on October 30, 2025. With Henry Cavill’s departure and such a considerable financial commitment, audiences’ reception to the upcoming season will be a significant factor for the series.
