Remastered Galaxy Duo: Enhanced Classics for Mario’s 40th Anniversary on Switch & Switch 2

After years of anticipation, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 are set to launch on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on October 2, 2025. Players can begin playing from October 3 onwards. These remasters feature several enhancements, including improved resolution, a modernized interface, and music playback from the main menu. Players will have the option to experience the games in classic mode or with Wii motion controls. Additionally, the release includes extra content for Harmonies storybook. A free update will also enable 4K resolution for gameplay on Switch 2. Despite these upgrades, the core gameplay remains unchanged, a detail that reassures purists. A significant point of discussion revolves around the pricing. Nintendo is charging $40 per game, a higher price point than the Super Mario 3D All-Stars pack, which included three games for less. This raises the question of whether the remasters offer sufficient enhancements to justify the individual cost or if players are primarily paying to revisit classics in high definition.
