Everwild Canceled

Microsoft Gaming has just announced a round of layoffs. The company attributes these changes to a need for greater organizational efficiency to capitalize on new opportunities. This reportedly includes the cancellation of at least one game, Everwild from Rare Studios. According to VGC sources, Everwild’s cancellation is part of a broader restructuring effort underway at Rare Studios. Affected employees were reportedly informed today that their positions have been eliminated, though the company has yet to issue an official statement. Everwild was initially revealed in 2019 but had remained largely unmentioned for approximately five years until its creative direction was reportedly reset and the core creative team restructured in 2021.
