Hideo Kojima’s a big deal to many gamers, but he’s also seen as pretty eccentric by a lot of people. His comments, like wanting to make games in space, really show why folks see him as eccentric but also super unique. Recently, at the Sydney Film Festival, this Japanese creator shared a wild dream: he wants to be the very first person to create a video game in space. He even talked about staying on the International Space Station for months to make these games. Right around when Death Stranding 2: On the Beach dropped on PS5 (that was June 24), Kojima admitted he’d love to train as an astronaut, head up to the International Space Station, and spend months there, likely making games. “I want to be the first,” he said. He told The Guardian, who was at the event, that age isn’t an issue for him. Plus, he joked that making games in space would probably mean fewer back problems! Kojima also mentioned he’s keen on putting himself in risky situations, kind of like Tom Cruise, who seems to feel his best when he’s risking his neck. Ultimately, his big dream is to make games way out in space.
