James Gunn’s pretty busy getting ready for the *Superman* movie, which is coming out on July 10th. But he hasn’t forgotten about other DC stuff, like *Peacemaker* Season 2, which is supposed to hit HBO Max in August. While he was talking about *Superman* and *Peacemaker*, Gunn got a question from a fan about another DC project that was announced back in 2023 but hasn’t really been talked about much since: the *Waller* series. On social media, he cleared things up, saying that rumors about *Waller* changing into a *Checkmate* series were totally false. He confirmed *Waller* is still in the works, keeping his answer short and sweet. He even teased, “Since you asked, I’ve got some updates on the DC Universe’s power player, *Waller*.” Even though the Hollywood strikes in 2023 caused some delays, James Gunn has confirmed that the project isn’t canceled and they’re still actively working on it. Warner Bros. hasn’t announced a new release date for it yet, though. But don’t worry, Amanda Waller will still pop up in other DC projects. She’ll voice her character in the animated *Creature Commandos* series and she’s in *Peacemaker* Season 1 (which, just so you know, is still part of the DC Universe story)
In the constantly shifting DC storyline, ARGUS is now being run by Rick Flag Sr. This could really change Amanda Waller’s spot in the DC Universe. But that’s all I can share for now about this much-awaited show starring Viola Davis. When *Peacemaker* comes back in August, Waller won’t be in charge anymore. Instead, Rick Flag Sr. will be the ARGUS director, picking up years after the first season ended. Oh, and one thing that hasn’t moved is the *Superman* movie release date – it’s still set for July 11, 2025. Keep an eye out for more updates!
