Sony has confirmed a price hike for numerous games on their Brazilian PlayStation Store, going beyond recent releases like Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, now R$ 399.90 for the standard version and R$ 449.90 for the Deluxe. The change was first spotted over the weekend and affects titles from Sony as well as other publishers. In their explanation, Sony attributed the adjustments to “difficult market conditions, including currency fluctuations.” Although the dollar is around R$ 5.50 now, this implies new conversion rates, higher than the previous rate of about R$ 5.00 per dollar used earlier. For instance, WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers rose from roughly R$ 250 to R$ 284.90; Lost Soul Aside increased from R$ 299 to R$ 334.90; The Last of Us Part I and Astro Bot also went up to R$ 399.90 and R$ 339.90, respectively. This change only impacts the Brazilian digital market. There have been no adjustments to physical game versions or dollar prices, with Sony’s launches still costing $70 in the US. This adjustment follows the same logic applied in April when Sony adjusted PlayStation Plus subscriptions in Latin America, suggesting an effort to standardize digital prices with global market values, gradually aligning them with dollar-based practices. As of now, there are no signs of further increases beyond this recent batch or any impact on physical versions.
