Sonic Returns to F1 Tracks with McLaren, Same Team Celebrated by Senna

On Thursday (26th), SEGA’s back at Formula 1 tracks, partnering with McLaren Racing! The partnership blends racing and gaming worlds, exciting fans of all ages on screens and tracks. It’s part of the “Racing Around the World” campaign, linking SEGA characters with racing events. This sets the stage for Sonic Racing Cross Worlds launch on September 25th. The partnership runs until 2026 – SEGA’s 35th anniversary and McLaren’s 1000th F1 race! Fun fact: SEGA and McLaren teamed up before in ’93, with SEGA sponsoring that year’s European Grand Prix at Donington Park. The winner, Ayrton Senna (a McLaren driver), received a Sonic-themed trophy – an iconic image for ’90s Brazilian gamers! Senna was their “national hero” then, having won 3 F1 titles, while Sonic was adored in Brazil due to Tec Toy’s efforts promoting the Mega Drive and Master System.
