Nintendo Collaborated on Production of Death Stranding 2

On PlayStation 5, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach saw part of its creation handed off to none other than Nintendo, as shown in the game’s credits. The team-up between Kojima Productions and Nintendo happened through Nintendo Pictures, a Tokyo-based studio specializing in animation, computer graphics, and motion capture. Nintendo got their hands on Nintendo Pictures (formerly Dynamo Pictures) back in 2022, with plans to create visual content using Nintendo’s IP. But even though it’s part of the Nintendo family, the studio kept its independence, taking on third-party projects—including video games. You might recall they did motion capture for the original Death Stranding. They also worked on CG scenes in Metroid: Other M, teamed up with Shigeru Miyamoto to create Pikmin shorts for Wii U and 3DS, and handled animations for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Pikmin 4, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Super Mario RPG, and Another Code: Recollection.
