Game Freak, known for the Pokémon franchise, is significantly changing its approach with a new project unveiled at the Xbox Games Showcase. Rather than featuring the hunting of colorful creatures in a vibrant world, this new project is an action RPG described as a “Soulslike” and is intended for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Titled “Beast of Reincarnation,” the game features a young girl named Emma, who is accompanied by a wolf. According to the trailer description, “Survive a journey through a sinister and ever-changing world where perilous forests can emerge in the desert.” As Emma and Koo explore the unknown, their bonds grow stronger, and with that, strange powers begin to develop.
According to Game Freak, Beast of Reincarnation will be an RPG built around “technical and demanding combat”, meaning a true “Soulslike”.
The release is scheduled for 2026, on a date to be determined.
