Notably, both Musashi and Ganryu wield Oni gloves, supernatural tools integral to the Onimusha series, suggesting an epic confrontation. Additionally, the game includes non-human adversaries such as Genma, demonic beings from the franchise’s universe. Among these threats are Kubi Akari, a spectral entity that steals souls, and Daidara, a colossal monster armed with a giant mace, fueled by unquenchable hunger. The battle sequence against Daidara in an undisclosed arena provides intense visceral tension and highlights the game’s fusion of folklore and action elements. The trailer also introduces a new type of environment, featuring floating ruins amid misty skies and rock formations suspended mid-air, indicating that Way of the Sword will explore surreal landscapes. Musashi appears to have the ability to manipulate space, hinting at potential for parallel exploration within the game.
From a gameplay perspective, Capcom aims to remain faithful to the core principles of Onimusha while updating the overall experience.
