Leenzee Games, a Chinese studio, and publisher 505 Games have announced that Wuchang Fallen Feathers, an action-RPG inspired by Chinese folklore with a dark atmosphere, will be officially released on July 24, 2025. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), and will be included in the Xbox Game Pass from day one. At 505 Games, preparations for the launch are currently underway, with several editions of the game already revealed, including pre-order options that grant access to the Night & White pack, which includes the following items:
Two sets of special costumes (Night Spectre & White Spectre),
An exclusive weapon: the Vermillion War Club,
And a rare item for improvement: the Glistening Red Mercury.
A Deluxe Edition will also be offered, including the base game along with several additional weapons and outfits such as the Dragoncoil Lance, the Moonlight Dragon Sword, and the highly sought-after Blood of Changhong, an advanced upgrade item.
Located in a fictional empire inspired by the end of the Ming Dynasty, Wuchang Fallen Feathers offers an immersive experience set in ancient China, marked by war, corruption, and supernatural occurrences. The player takes on the role of Wuchang, a lone warrior burdened with an unusual curse: a feather disease that progressively distorts her body and may affect her mind as well. Throughout her journey, the game delves into themes such as memory, identity, and occult forces central to traditional Chinese narratives. Notably, the game’s artistic vision features stylized environments, a dark and melancholic visual style, and a bestiary inspired by underrepresented Chinese myths in Western video games. This production aligns with a trend of culturally assertive Asian creations while appealing to an international audience that appreciates challenging action gameplay.
On the gameplay front, Wuchang Fallen Feathers adheres to Souls-like principles: meticulous progression, precision-based combat that relies on recognizing enemy patterns, and deep character customization. Leenzee Games also indicates an evolution of the protagonist’s abilities through a variety of weapons and special techniques within a gameplay framework focused on exploration, survival, and boss battles. Wuchang Fallen Feathers aligns with a broader trend of ambitious Chinese titles such as Black Myth: Wukong or Where Winds Meet, aiming to foster a new generation of AAA games developed in China. Leenzee Games thus aims to offer an experience that remains true to its cultural heritage while competing with major Japanese and Western action RPG productions.
The meeting is scheduled for July 24, 2025, a date that could signify WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers entering the realm of major releases.
