Resident Evil 4 Remake has achieved a historic milestone: over 10 million copies sold worldwide in record time for the franchise. Launched in March 2023, this remake of the 2005 classic is now the fastest-selling title in the series, surpassing even the performance of Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil Village. This success aligns with a broader trend, as Capcom is reportedly considering revisiting other titles from the saga, such as Resident Evil 5 and Code Veronica, according to online rumors. Following the announcement of 10 million sales for Resident Evil 4, many internet users believe Capcom has left hints at the end of a video suggesting allusions to a potential Resident Evil 9, fueling fan speculation about the series’ future direction. Some fans have indeed noticed that wooden panels arranged in a certain way form the Roman numeral “IX”, or 9, further stoking speculation regarding an allusion to Resident Evil 9.
According to information shared by insiders such as Dusk Golem, Resident Evil 9 is rumored to take place four years after the events of Resident Evil Village. The storyline would involve Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine investigating an island where a company is creating clones of Eveline using Megamycete. During their mission, they would become infected, leading to hallucinations and hearing Eveline’s voice. We await Capcom’s official statement on this matter.
