If April is already packed with significant headlines, May promises to be a lucrative period for video games as well. This is evident from the new trailer released for DOOM: The Dark Ages, set for release on May 15th across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Today, Bethesda Softworks highlighted the Story Trailer that outlines some key elements and introduces the adversaries our Slayer will face. While we can expect the story to remain true to its roots as a DOOM game, there is potential for pleasant surprises. This prequel to the 2016 DOOM will narrate the origins of the Slayer, the brutish armor-clad hero known for his lack of diplomacy. Accompanied by the Night Sentinels (his band of warrior companions in armor), our protagonist must defend against a demonic invasion in a world that blends Dark Souls and medieval Mad Max atmospheres. The trailer showcases intense sequences characteristic of id Software: brutal finishing moves, close-up dismemberments, and epic battles with colossal bosses. Additionally, the Slayer can even ride a cyberdemonic dragon and pilot a giant mech to take on demons as large as buildings. Bloodshed is expected to be a prominent feature throughout the game.
