Nintendo had formally prohibited us from discussing the event until the embargo lifted on Thursday, April 3rd at 15:00. We were invited to attend the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience held within the Grand Palais in Paris. Similar to the original Nintendo Switch’s release in 2017, this event allowed journalists, video creators, and ticket-holding members of the public to test early games for the Nintendo Switch 2, as well as explore the console and its accessories. The event featured various levels and stages organized into a course that moved between rooms, with stations offering titles such as Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, Metroid Prime 4 Beyond, and numerous third-party games. Notably, the new Mario Kart World was particularly captivating, available for play during two special sessions: one for discovery and initial Grand Prix races, followed by an opportunity to explore the open world in multiplayer mode with up to 24 players in Knockout mode.
We also did not miss the opportunity to showcase the machine through a mini unboxing, bringing our famous white velvet gloves to properly present it according to the art. We examined the accessories and even interviewed colleagues from the industry (Aymeric Lallée, Editor-in-Chief of JV.com, and Maxime Claudel from Numerama) to gather their impressions on the machine, various pricing options, the games they tested, and their favorite selections. We forgot to ask about any disappointments this time, perhaps for next time.
