The Nintendo Direct held on April 27, 2025, announced the development of Marvel Cosmic Invasion, a new collaboration between DotEmu and Tribute Games. This partnership is notable as it follows their successful creation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge in 2022. Under another agreement with Marvel, these companies are set to develop this 2D beat ’em up game inspired by the classic styles of the 1980s and 1990s. Like its predecessor, Marvel Cosmic Invasion will feature gameplay mechanics that allow players to switch between two superheroes mid-air, each using their unique abilities. The game supports up to four players in both local and online cooperative modes, as well as crossplay cooperation options.
Regarding playable characters, it is confirmed that Captain America, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Storm, Phyla-Vell, Venom, and Nova will participate in the game, although additional characters are anticipated to be announced at a later date. The narrative will follow the pursuit of Annihilus, who has declared his intent to eliminate all life on Earth and beyond. At this time, there is no definite release date, but it is planned for 2025 across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and potentially the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
