A year has passed since Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra was announced, and there has been no communication about it since then, leading many to question whether the project will be feasible. With a trailer reportedly created in-engine that seems too good to be true, along with Amy Hennig’s involvement—she hasn’t released a game since Uncharted 3 following her departure from Naughty Dog—some are concerned history might repeat itself. However, recent positive news allows us to alleviate these concerns: actor Khary Payton, who voices Black Panther in the game, has revealed to The Direct that the release date is set for Christmas 2025.
“We’re always working on it. We’re targeting 2025… around the Christmas period. But I’m so excited.”
For Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, Amy Hennig envisions an action-adventure game with a cinematic atmosphere evocative of World War II tropes. She confirms that the game will take players on a journey beyond Paris to include the lush jungles of Wakanda as well. This title aims to explore other facets of these iconic superheroes. Captain America, portrayed by a younger Steve Rogers who is still discovering his role, and Black Panther, depicted here as T’Chanda (T’Challa’s grandfather), will be central characters. According to recent leaks, this iteration of Black Panther is intended to influence the MCU.
