Saros may have been the final highlight of State of Play on February 12, 2025, but Tides of Annihilation emerged as the standout title. This unexpected game has already attracted significant attention as one of the most watched titles. Presented as a solo narrative experience, Tides of Annihilation is developed by Chinese studio Eclipse Glow Games, based in Chengdu, China, with ambitions to establish itself in the AAA market. To achieve this goal, the studio has recruited industry veterans who have contributed to games such as Yakuza, Assassin’s Creed, Persona, For Honor, and Prince of Persia. The story takes place in a distorted version of modern London, disrupted by a supernatural invasion. Players take on the role of Gwendolyn, a young woman who appears to be humanity’s last survivor, teaming up with spectral knights she can summon for intense battles.
Tides of Annihilation draws its influences from various sources, including Final Fantasy, FromSoftware productions, and Fumito Ueda for its grandeur. In terms of gameplay, it offers a blend of several elements as well. “The presentation of Tides of Annihilation at the Sony State of Play was an incredible success for the development team at Eclipse Glow,” stated Kun Fu, principal games producer at Eclipse Glow Games. “This is just the beginning. We have created a world that reinvents the Arthurian legend, where themes of courage, loyalty, and heroism intertwine with an epic story unfolding in a strange yet familiar environment that will test the mettle of true players and advance the genre.”
At present, no release date has been announced; however, it is known that the game will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series.
