The announcement was inadvertently posted by Microids last Monday and subsequently withdrawn; however, as is often the case on the internet, information tends to persist. This is why we had already disclosed the game’s existence a few days ago on Twitter, but now it is officially confirmed: The Smurfs Flower Defense will be released in May 2025 for Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest 3. In the statement provided by Microids, the game title does not include the French translation of “Les Schtroumpfs” and mentions only ‘Smurfs’. The reason behind the exclusion of the French version remains unclear. Visually, the production appears to be among Meta Quest’s more modest offerings. No trailer has been released yet, but the visuals suggest a budget that is certainly tight, at best. Nevertheless, given that it will offer an experience blending virtual reality and mixed reality, we won’t be too critical about its limitations.
Regarding gameplay, players are required to defend the Smurfs by constructing defense towers and activating mechanisms to withstand attacks from Gargamel and Azrael. Players have the option to switch characters and employ the abilities of Smurfette, Tempete, the Glasses Smurf, and the Joker Smurf. There are 20 Smurfs to rescue, with only three bosses (Gargamel, Azrael, and Cracoucass) to confront, which is a notably small number. We look forward to the first video for confirmation.
