SEGA had scheduled a streaming session on Twitch for fans of the Yakuza Like a Dragon series to reveal more details about Like a Dragon: Kazuma Kiryu’s Offday Adventure in Hawaii, approximately a month before its release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. The stream featured over 13 minutes of gameplay, commentated in perfect French dub, directly addressing the French-speaking community and preparing them for Goro Majima’s new solo adventure. To recoup costs from last year’s Infinite Wealth episode, developers decided to reuse the Hawaii setting, down to its smallest details, but expanded it with a significant seaside area, as piracy will be a theme in this installment. Many may draw comparisons to Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, and they won’t be entirely wrong, but SEGA’s title stands out for its unapologetically relaxed atmosphere and ultra-sharp combat system, enabling Goro Majima to switch between various combat styles. This offers a range of moves and combos, making encounters dynamic and highly stylized.
Like a Dragon Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii will offer a variety of side activities to enhance the player’s experience, alongside a well-crafted story that encourages players to follow Majima’s journey. After washing up on a deserted island following a shipwreck and losing his memory (he cannot even recall his name), Majima sets out across the vast ocean seeking clues to regain his identity, accompanied by Noah, who owes him his life. The duo soon becomes embroiled in a conflict between fierce criminals, modern-day pirates, and other buccaneers, all vying for control of a legendary treasure. SEGA has announced that the game will include a New Game+ mode, which will be available as a free update following the game’s release. Like a Dragon Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is set to launch on February 21st next year, across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Steam platforms.
