Less than a month after its unveiling at The Game Awards, Virtua Fighter 6 is once again drawing attention, this time at CES in Las Vegas. It was presented as a small technical demo during NVIDIA’s conference to demonstrate the capabilities of new graphics cards. SEGA noted that it is an in-engine render and not actual gameplay footage. This gives us a glimpse into what the Ryu Ga Gotoku teams aim to achieve with their pre-development concept. While the game may not be visually stunning (to be honest, we’ve seen better), the rendering of animations is quite promising, featuring ultra-smooth and natural movements that one would hope for in the final product.
Another aspect that could be impressive is the richness of the environments, knowing that part of it will be destructible, allowing characters to interact with them. Regarding the character design, it follows an Akira style, exhibiting a much bulkier appearance than usual, along with attire similar to Ryu from Street Fighter 6, indicating a character who has isolated himself in the mountains to gain power and wisdom. Until Virtua Fighter 6 is released, it’s worth noting that a 4K 60fps remaster of Virtua Fighter 5 will be available on Steam on January 28, 2025, featuring rollback netcode.
