Recently, CD Projekt Red announced that they have entered full production on The Witcher 4, the latest installment in a highly anticipated franchise. Shortly after, during the Game Awards ceremony, the Polish studio revealed the first trailer of the game. Following a familiar approach, the developers featured Ciri prominently as she becomes the new ‘sorcerer’ in this continuing series of adventures, although it is evident that Geralt de Riv will remain an integral part of the story.
It is gratifying to finally be able to announce that Ciri will be the protagonist of The Witcher IV; we have long felt that this decision was natural and that she deserves it. In this game, we aim to explore what it means to become a true sorcerer by following Ciri on her journey. This trailer offers a glimpse into that exploration and how The Witcher’s world can be dark and grounded.
Certainly, we will have to wait a bit longer before CD Projekt Red releases gameplay footage for The Witcher 4. However, it is known that they have selected Unreal Engine 5 for the game, and its release date has yet to be announced. Therefore, patience is essential.
