Here is an unexpected announcement that was not leaked beforehand: the return of Okami. This is neither a remaster nor a remake but indeed a sequel to be produced by Capcom. The revelation during the Game Awards evening surprised many, particularly given that the original game did not achieve significant commercial success and the franchise has been absent from players’ attention for some time. However, Capcom is confident enough to have allowed Hideki Kamiya to reestablish his former studio, Clover, alongside other industry veterans. So far, we have only received a teaser, codenamed “Okami Sequel,” along with a grand announcement on the Game Awards stage. The sequel will maintain the same artistic direction, featuring Japanese prints and calligraphy, as well as the protagonist Amaterasu, and may include other companions.
