Announced at gamescom 2024 in August last year, Hela is the first game from Windup Games, a new studio founded by former Coldwood Interactive employees. Coldwood Interactive is a Swedish company that garnered attention with the release of Unravel in 2016. Unravel was a cooperative platformer highlighted by Electronic Arts as part of its “indie games” range, known as EA Originals. A few years later, the studio founders left Electronic Arts to establish Windup Games.
With Hela, we will retain several elements similar to Unravel, beginning with the miniaturized world, where once again we will traverse a universe through the eyes of a mouse, which will assist a sick witch. The objective is therefore to journey through a Scandinavian world to gather ingredients in order to create magical potions that will help the witch regain her strength. To achieve this, numerous obstacles must be overcome and various puzzles solved. This adventure can be undertaken alone or with others, as Hela also emphasizes cooperation, either locally on split-screen or online. For now, no release date has been set, as it seems the project is still in its early stages.
