For nearly 15 years, Double Eleven has been known for porting games, especially Red Dead Redemption on Switch and PC, establishing a strong reputation in the industry. Founded in 2009 by former Rockstar Games developers, the British studio now employs over 300 people. Recently, they utilized the Xbox Partner Preview to introduce Fireblind, an upcoming multiplayer first-person shooter with a distinctive feature: it is played in total darkness. Although not completely pitch-black, the game incorporates minimal light sources for visibility, including neon graffiti on walls, explosions, and light trails from firearms. These serve as geolocation markers. However, locating opponents requires more than just accuracy; players must track them across maps where enemies blend into the environment. Tools, traps, and echolocation techniques will be essential for detecting adversaries by listening to footsteps and other sounds.
It is now possible to test Blindfire as the game is currently available on Xbox Series X|S and PC through the Xbox Game Preview program, though a purchase of 8.79€ is required. Additionally, the game is scheduled for release on PS5 at a later date this year.
