Bandai Namco Entertainment utilized the Paris Games Week event to introduce a new character to Tekken 8: an unprecedented fighter portrayed by actor Vincent Cassel. This character, Victor Chevalier, marks the first French person in the franchise (though Lili is from Monaco and speaks French). He is one of the co-founders of the United Nations’ independent forces. Following his father’s legacy, he joined the French navy before serving with the UN to save lives. Additionally, he established Raven Force, an autonomous armed group designed to counter private military companies. Wearing a white three-piece suit, Victor embodies French sophistication and elegance; however, in combat, his style closely mirrors that of John Wick, showcasing exceptional skill with firearms and the katana.
Bandai Namco Entertainment chose Vincent Cassel to portray Victor Chevalier, and a behind-the-scenes video showcases how the French actor brought the character to life. It is noteworthy that Tekken was a game Cassel frequently played during his youth. “I discovered TEKKEN in the 1990s and became particularly interested in it because one of the characters, Eddy Gordo, who practices capoeira, caught my attention. At the time, I myself practiced capoeira so I only used him in the game. It was a pleasure to be chosen to contribute to the voice creation for the first French character in such a globally recognized video game franchise. The character of Victor Chevalier resonates with me because he exudes elegance, and through his mannerisms and attire, he embodies a distinct sense of French sophistication,” Vincent Cassel shared.
