A year after its exciting announcement at EVO 2022, the highly anticipated new Fatal Fury has finally revealed its official title, putting an end to all those buzzing rumors! While it won’t be a direct sequel to Garou Mark of the Wolves (arguably the best fighting game ever made), it will definitely carry on some nostalgic vibes. Fans can look forward to seeing Terry Bogard and Rock Howard in their iconic NeoGeo era style from 1999’s Garou Mark of the Wolves, but with a twist! The game also pays homage to the classic atmosphere of the original Fatal Fury series. We’ve spotted the familiar Southtown map and even heard some familiar voices of beloved characters. Plus, there’s news that a fighter from Kyokugenryu Karate will join the roster too—how exciting is that?
On the other hand, some gameplay screenshots have surfaced in this video, showcasing SNK’s choice for a sketch-like visual style reminiscent of their 2019 Samurai Shodown release. While it’s evident they’re utilizing the engine from KOF XV, here’s hoping that the gameplay offers something unique and fresh. We’re naturally eager to learn more, but seeing Fatal Fury make its triumphant return is definitely exciting and delightful!
